Tarpon were rolling off the end of the jetty this weekend. It was  an awesome site to see.  There were many people casting to them, but no one hooked up.
The Jack Crevalle were thick off the jetties on Saturday. I didn't catch any but saw many hookups and a couple landed from boats.  I did manage to catch some more Spanish mackerel, and that always makes me happy.I'm going to try again next week. I am determined to catch a jack off the jetty on my fly rod.

Hey Nathan,

Might have to be there on a weekday!  It can get tough with all the people.  My best recommendation is to move the fly as fast a possible when you see a follow.  I got two last year and man is it fun!  I was using a 10 wt and now I want one on my 8 wt!

I was also wondering about using spider wire or a braid for spanny macs.  think they would see it?

By the way, that was a very nice Spanny Mac you caught!  One of the bigger ones that i have seen on the end of the Jettie!  To bad we couldn't get into some of those Lady fish!

Hey Kev
Had a great time this weekend. I use fluorocarbon because of its abrasion resistance and braid doesn't have any. Braid has great lifting strength, but tap it with a butter knife, under load, and it frays. That said, there is no harm in trying. I made some leaders with 20lb titanium wire, and I plan on testing them next week.  Hopefully it won't spook the macks.

I'm going down today. I'll tell you if I see any more, and I'll try to get some pictures. Maybe I'll catch one.
