Spring is here and the fish are biting. I have seen reds, trout, sheapshead, and flounder caught off the jetties. I have also heard from a reliable source that Spanish mackerel, jack crevalle, and even a ling have been caught off the jetties. If you haven't figured it out yet, this is a great time of year to fish.
The other night I ran into something I have never seen before. For five nights in a row I have found schools of trout and glowing water. I have many friends that have run into luminescent water off shore, but this was inshore and in the same place every night.
It is absolutely amassing to see trout glowing as they swim through the water. They would swirl under bait pods, and create 30 foot circles of bright glowing water. The best part was catching trout, and watching the glowing water drip on the ground. I'll write more about this later, I'm going fishing.

I went to the south jetty yesterday evening from 7:30 to 9:00. I saw stringers of pompano and Spanish mackerel coming off the jetty, as I was walking out.
I stopped and talked to some winter Texans, fishing  the surf side. They had caught Spanish mackerel, pompano, redfish, sheapshead, and trout. They were all smiles, and said that staying an extra month was definitely worth it. I continued out to the end where I found two guys catching trout on lemon rigs. The first two I saw them catch where giant sows, that would have made anybodies fishing trip.
I perched myself in one of my favorate spots and began casting my flyrod. After I had no success with the trout, I walked back down the jetty until I found bait. As soon as my fly hit the water, I had a Spanish mackerel on. I caught a ton of macks, and I left the fish bitting.I decided to leave while I could still see the rocks under my feet. Tight lines

Hit the Jetties this past weekend.  Saturday was a mess on the south.  The north looked to have the "Shark Hunters" out camping in full force, but the Saturday morning storm must have dampened their spirits.  Either way, the Shark Shack is up.

On the south we caught some junior Reds and some ladyfish on shrimp.  I saw a guy with a monster hooked loose it in the rocks.  Better luck next time!

We also walked out near the end with spoons--nothing happening there.
