If you want to catch a snook on the fly, in Port Aransas, this is the perfect time. The surf side of the south jetty has been stacked with snook. You might have to catch 20 small common or fat snook, before you catch a monster, but it is worth it. 5:30 to 8:00 in the AM and 7:30 to 9:30 in the PM, are the prime times. If you start catching skip jack don't stop fishing , you are in the right spot.

The wind is an issue. It kicks your butt. If the wind is driving you crazy, there is no reason to be miserable. If you want to catch snook buck up, get a little wet, and swear at your fly line a couple of times. You don't have to cast very far, but you have to strip all the way through the rocks. I've been using a chartruse estez fly. I can't remember the exact name, but a chartruse and white Clouser will do the the trick.

Did You Know

Millions of trees are accidentally planted by squirrels who bury nuts and then forget where they hid them.
