THE REDFISH ARE THICK IN MATAGORDA BAYS. WENT SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WITH MY UNCLE. SATURDAY WE HAD A LATE START AT ABOUT 11:30 AND ENDED UP LIMITING OUT ON REDFISH, TWO SPECS AND A FLOUNDER ON THE STRINGER AT THE END OF THE DAY AT ABOUT 3:30. HOWEVER SUNDAY WAS A LITTLE SLOWER WITH ONLY FIVE REDFISH ON THE STRINGER, BUT STARTED FISHING AT ABOUT EIGHT, A LITTLE BIT EARLIER. USING A BROWNISH LURE ON BOTH DAYS, AND CATCHING THE MOST IN THE MORE HEATED PART OF THE DAY, I GUESS CAUSE THE WATERS HAVE BEEN A LITTLE COLDER, BUT CAUGHT ALL OF THE FISH ALONG GRASS AND OYSTER BEDS/REEFS. THANK YOU,..

SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC:

I am from the west coast and will be visiting in Texas in late April  I am an old seasoned fisherman.  I do not want a 24 to 36 hour Tuna trip.
Can't abandon the wife that long.
Id love to do some inshore fishing as well as surf. I will need to rent tackle.  I can bring a few reels and lures along.
Can you or anyone refer me to a local guy or a tackle shop that can set me up?  Id even kayak fish inshore if yaks are available
I owned a tackle shop for many years.
Thanks for any pointers you guys can give me.

Jerry,

You came to the right place. You are on the web page of the best tackle store in town. Come by when your in town and Port A Outfitters can help you out. If you  have any specific questions, you  can always post them here. Late April is a great time to fish the surf, Jetty and flats. Spanish mackerel should be in full swing by then and the reds should be tailing in the afternoons.

Thanks Nathan, sounds good!  I will bring a litttle tackle along but not much.  Travel light!

Did You Know

In the early days of film making, people who worked on the sets were called movies. The films were called potion pictures.
