    Large schools of sheepshead are moving through the ship channel. People fishing from boats are at a greater advantage, but many are still being landed off the jetties and sea walls. Reds and trout are plentiful from the south jetty, and jacks can be found daily at the end. Spanish makerel are thick one day, and non existent the next. Some days a shrimp can't hit the water without being inhaled by a mack.
    The surf is full of fish, but its also full of seaweed. If you can put up with the weeds you will be rewarded. The winds of April are here, and they haven't been very forgiving. When the wind is light take advantage of it, because it wont last long.

Nathan, thanks for the report.  We're heading down soon.  What bait do you recommend for sheepshead, reds, trout along the jetties?  And should I use a popping cork?  Thanks again

Live shrimp for trout and sheepshead, under a lemon rig. Reds, shrimp under a lemon rig, or on bottom with dead mullet or menhaden.

Thanks for the tips, Nathan.  We were down on April 30 weekend...lots of wind, but saw a 38" drum hauled in at N. Jetty.  We'll be back.
