Hey fellow fisherman, just joining in on the site. I make the yearly trip to Port A and i am quite familiar with the area. i also know that Port A Outfitters is the place to find anything and everything fishing. My question is to anyone who may be able to provide me with some answers...i normally am there as we speak, between june 1st and june 12th however this year i wont be able to make it until august. august 12th to be exact.
I always do well in the month of june, often catching my fair share of reds and trout off both the north and south jetties and some on the flats. i dont have a boat and honestly i am just curious as to how good the fishing usually is in the month of august? i tried to do a little bit of research online to better answer my question but had little luck.
I then stumbled upon this site and realized what better way to possibly find out than to ask fisherman from Port A...any info is greatly appreciatted. thanx!

August is an awesome month to fish in port A. The warm waters of summer have been here for a long time when August arrives, and the larger species have made Port A home. I spend most August mornings chasing fish in the surf. The wind is calmer and beach is usually beautiful. The crowds of July have thinned out and chasing schools of fish is much easier. I spend more time on the jetties in August and September than any other months. Spanish Mackerel, Trout, Jack crevalle, Kingfish, Redfish, Snook, Ling, and Tarpon can all be found on the jetties. Some August are better than others, but I've never had a disappointing one.

How about July? I plan on 16-22.  Is snapper season open then?
