The fishing this week has been out of this world. Reds and trout are being caught out at Shamrock Cove.  Large gafftop, black drum, trout, Spanish mackerel and monster reds are being caught on the piers and jetties.  Monster reds, big trout and black drum are being caught in the bays.

The docks are all reporting that offshore fishing has been great this week and should continue. Limits of Red Snapper have been reported as well as blacktip shark, mako shark, blackfin tuna, amberjack, vermilion snapper, ling, kingfish and African pompano.

Live Baits of choice are live shrimp, mud minnows, and sea lice. Dead baits of choice are fresh shrimp, mullet, and menhaden.
Mud minnow have worked well for reds on the bottom and for specks under a cork. Fresh cut bait has worked well for sharks.

Tropic Sunny days and warm weather are the settings for great fishing in Port Aransas. The fishing this week has been fantastic. Reds and trout are being caught out on the East Flats.  Redfish, trout, Spanish mackerel,   gafftop, black drum are being caught on the piers and jetties.  Giant reds are reported being caught around Hog Island. The trout fishing is best at night under the lights. The bay has produced catches of redfish, Spanish mackerel, some sheepshead, trout, gafftop, whiting, and black drum.
Anglers of the FLW Redfish Series tournament reported high winds from the gulf did not hinder them from catching some nice reds.   Several teams reported 15 + pounds total of their 2 fish on the first day.

The dock fishing reports have been excellent as well. Reports of ling, dolphin, shark, blackfin tuna, amberjack, vermilion snapper, kingfish, mahi-mahi, barracuda, grouper, African pompano and limits of red snapper have all been caught.

Live Baits of choice are live shrimp, mud minnows, and croakers. Dead baits of choice are fresh shrimp and mullet.

Mud minnow have worked well for reds on the bottom and for specks under a cork. Fresh cut bait has worked well for sharks.

Beach fun Well its been another good fishing week for anglers and should be another great weekend. Even with the typical South Texas winds, anglers have been reporting excellent catches of a verity of fish.  Limits of redfish and speckled trout have been reported from the bay. Reports of trout and reds being caught in Shamrock Cove have been good.

The jetty is still an excellent spot to fish. Kingfish are being caught on the end of the south jetty and Jack Crevalle are on the surf side from about mid point out. Spanish mackerel and trout are thick along the surf side in the braking waves.  Anglers on the north jetty were reported catching redfish, speckled trout, black drum, Spanish mackerel, and flounder.

Reds, Spanish mackerel, black drum and gafftop are being caught on the piers. Speckled trout at night under the lights has been very good on the piers.

The Docks have all reported good catches this week.  Many limits of red snapper have been reported with several sows being caught.  The 8,10 & 12 hour trips have returned with limits of red snapper, blacktip, ling, kingfish, vermilion snapper, African pompano,  barracuda, amberjack, hammerhead shark and makos have all been reported being caught.

Live Baits of choice are live shrimp, mud minnows, and sea lice. Dead baits of choice are fresh shrimp, mullet, and squid wings.  Fresh cut bait has worked well for sharks. Artificial baits of choice reported are
pumpkinseed chartreuse Bass Assassins, silver and gold spoons and the new  Thunbs up Food Source lures (shrimp & chartreuse) have been good baits.

Sunning Well the holidays are upon us with Memorial Day weekend and the kids now out of school.  This should be the start of a great fishing season.  The weather this weekend is forecast to be sunny with some clouds and tempatures in the mid 80’s in the day and mid 70’s at night no better way to start out the holidays.

The fishing this week has been great and the weather should make for even a better weekend.  Reports from the piers this week have been good. Nice trout, redfish, black drum, sheepshead, and Spanish mackerel have all been reported being caught. Trout fishing at night under the lights has been especially good.

The jetties are still a hot spot to fish.  King fish are being reported at the end and a tarpon or two have been hooked.  Jack Crevalle, Spanish mackerel, redfish and trout are thick along the surf side in the breaking waves. Anglers have reported catching redfish, speckled trout, black drum, Spanish mackerel, and flounder on the north and south jetties.

Bay anglers have reported catches of Speckled trout, redfish, Spanish mackerel, sand trout a few black drum, flounder and whiting.

The dock reports have been excellent this week as well.  With catches of limits of red snapper many nice sows, blacktip shark, hammerhead shark, Atlantic sharpnose shark, amberjack, grouper, ling, dorado, barracuda, amberjack, kingfish and dog snapper.  They all report the fishing has been great.

Baits of choice this week.
Live Baits - shrimp, mud minnows.
Dead baits - fresh shrimp, menhaden and squid.
Thunbs up The new Food Source baits have also produced good results and are good alternative baits.
Artificial baits - pumpkinseed chartreuse Bass Assassins,  Thunbs up Thunbs up Gulp shrimp, silver and gold hammered spoons in the surf.

Sand fun This looks like the start of a great fishing season so happy holidays and good fishing.

A couple of friends and I went to the end of the jetties on Sunday at around 7P.m.  there were kingfish EVERYWHERE!!! We caught three limits in one hour on ribbonfish, it was a blast. We saw a few tarpon rolling at the end of the north jetty too. Good Luck.
