Flounder run in Port Aransas.

When do the flounder start running in Port Aransas? Where are some good fishing spots for them?

I can't remember exactly when it happens. It usually starts after the first good cold front, from mid October to early November. When they first start running,  I always catch a lot of them at Charlie's Pasture.
If you are on foot, Charlie's Pasture, Roberts Point park, and the Station street pier, are great places to catch them. In a boat, I catch them up and down the shore line, of the Lydia Ann channel. I love catching flounder on rod and reel, but if you haven't tried gigging you are missing out. Port A has some of the best places to go gigging and some of the best guides to take you. If you have never been, I recommend a guide, for a least the first time. It's hard enough to figure out where you are going during the day. Remember to only stick the big ones. You can't catch and release with a gig.
