All of March should be good fishing.  The reds and trout should be in and the sheepshead should be in by springbrake.  Early to Mid march would be my best guess.   Shrimp under a popping cork in the flats should make for some great fishing.

The sheepshead are usually in full force by the second or third week of March. It's a great time to take a kid fishing. It's not to hot outside and sheepshead are relatively easy to catch. I would check out Roberts Point Park before you go to the jetty. It's easier to land fish there, and the jetties can be crowded. Check out this picture from last year. It's not a good idea to take a boat to the end of the jetties, if your not experienced. I don't take a boat out there unless the weather is perfect. Remember this is the Gulf, not a lake. I caught more than my limit in 30 minutes( I only kept two for lunch with the family). I only saw one landed from all of these boats.

Hey folks, I'm coming in March 21-25. What is the surf fishing likely to yield? Best times/strategies?

Thanks, TomSea

Well, this will be the second week into spring break so the beach will be covered with spring breakers.   Beach Ball The surf should yield whiting, a few redfish, trout and other fish.  Your best chance for fishing is Roberts Point Park for sheepshead.  This should be a good time for some fishing the water should be warmer and the bait should be more abundant.

So come on down an enjoy what Port Aransas has to offer.
